Heartstring is a Melbourne based theatre company formed in 2016. Our aim is to create dynamic, thought-provoking theatre, interpreting both classical and new work. At Heartstring we endeavour to address the shortage of great and interesting roles for women by producing plays where at least half of the actors on stage are female-identifying and non-binary actors.

Heartstring's Artistic Directors are Elisa Armstrong and Joanne Booth. Their premiere production was William Shakespeare's CORIOLANUS, performed with an all-female cast, at the Mechanics Institute, Brunswick April 27 - May 8, 2016.

Their next production was MARIE ANTOINETTE, written by David Adjmi, which premiered at Northcote Town Hall July 5- 15, 2018.

The most recent Heartstring production was STILL, written by Jen Silverman, and directed by Sarah Vickery at fortyfivedownstairs June 30 - July 11, 2021.

Next up is LITTLE EYOLF, a co production with Burning House, to be performed at the Explosives Factory, St Kilda December 2 - 10, 2022. Tickets can be purchased here.
